Jesse wanted to ride the opening round of the Mid-America Cross Country (MAXC) series near Quincy IN as a warm-up race and shakedown for the new GasGas on 3/18. It was nasty! Jesse said it was the muddiest race he's ever been in.
It was the first time I've ever had to have my truck/trailer pulled into (and out of) an event by a tractor.
The GG performed flawlessly even though the radiators were packed with mud after the few first corners. The bike ran hot but kept on plunking away.
Many other machines didn't fare so well. There were lots of disabled bikes and quads in the woods that had to be retrieved, including our buddy Brooks' KTM.
Go here for some helmet-cam video. At least you an see what the first 3 corners looked like. You'll also notice Jesse didn't have a very good start. He was not ready when the announcer said "10 seconds" and the flagman threw the green flag almost simultaneously.
In the end Jesse was scored 7th in the Open A class, 19th overall. I'm no stranger to hare scrambles-type events, but it's been a while. Now I remember why I like enduros better.
Thanks Indy Moto, Kerlin Trailer Motorsports & Western World, Throttle Jockey, Tucker-Rockey, and Unabiker.
